Vessel Safety Check (VSC)
Even if you pay careful attention to safety, dangerous mechanical problems can crop up on the best-maintained boat. That's why the U.S. Coast Guard recommends that all recreational boaters (including personal watercraft users) take advantage of the free Vessel Safety Check (VSC) program every year.
VSCs are offered by experienced members of the U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary and the United States Power Squadrons®, two of the nation’s premier volunteer boating safety organizations. A VSC is your best way of learning about problems that might put you in violation of state or federal laws or, worse, create danger for you or your passengers on the water.Find a Vessel ExaminerGo to www.vesselsafetycheck.org and click on "I Want a VSC" to find a Vessel Examiner near you.Online Vessel Safety Check
This fun, interactive program lets you find out if your boat or personal watercraft would pass a Vessel Safety Check, before you have one. It's easy and convenient to use!
Special Summer Vessel Checks
Greetings Fellow Boaters !
Many of us who serve in the Coast Guard Auxiliary were boaters long before we joined the Coast Guard team.
We know from experience that many skippers and crews are making great plans for the fun part of the upcoming August vacations, but not everyone has planned as well for the safety part.Well, that SAFETY part is where you and your local Coast Guard Auxiliary should definitely get together this summer for a few but very rewarding minutes.
We would like to perform a VESSEL SAFETY CHECK on your boat so that you and your family can have a safe and enjoyable outing on the lake.
The check will be done by NON-LAW ENFORCEMENT, Coast Guard-trained vessel examiners and will help you to know if you are in compliance with current boating regulations.
It will also show that your boat is properly equipped for safe operation on the water. Several vessel examiners will be "on the job" at the ramps and marinas and patrolling the lake at various times this summer.
However, there aren't enough of us to be everywhere all day so feel free to call one of the numbers below to schedule a time and place so we can get together for your VESSEL SAFETY CHECK.
Thanks for your time, and I hope to see you this summer.
